Final Reflections

Projects and Their Processes

There were three projects, the first was a poetry explication. I wrote an essay on the poem  Do Not Go Gentle into the night.  Which in the essay consisted of the structure, source of the poem, whether or not the poem was fixed or unfixed, the form of the poem including the stanza, how many lines the poem had, the rhyme of the poem, the length of the poem, and the variation of the poem. I learned how to cite a poem.  After reading and doing research I used my view and description of how I felt about the poem. I also used the information from the sources I researched.

The second project was the annotated bibliography, this project was for the research essay. The project consisted of 12 different sources  in citation on the MLA format. The citation consisted of Website, a book, articles from the scholar journal, articles from newspapers, and from proquest.

I used the UAPTC Ottenheimer Library to do my research on the bibliography.

The third project was the research essay about Injuries in Manufacturing  Industries and Companies should be held responsible. I used the sources from the bibliography to back up my argument. I also used my personal experience to create an argument. I also did an outline of each view and point that I was discussing in the essay.

Learning and Outcomes for Comp II

This semester I learned how to use the correct MLA citation for poems, bibliography, and also my research paper. The importance of not over citing an assignment.  The correct way is to sandwich the citation, and not let the citation overwhelm your argument. I learned how to cite various templates. I learned how to revise and proofread essays. I also use the information from my peers  to make the corrections I need to improve my essays. I used creative thinking and inquiries to improve my essay. I learned how to create a thesis with a strong argument and cite my sources. The importance of an outline, and having enough sources and information to carry the essay.

Strengths and Challenges

I believe my strength was citing essays in the correct MLA format. The challenge was over using citation in my essays, by over citing the source which overwhelms my argument.

Overall Benefit

I enjoyed the first project the most because researching a poem and breaking it down into your own words and feelings was exciting.  I had never done it before with a poem. The outcome was interesting. I benefited from each assignment because we learned different techniques and incorporated everything we learned in each assignment which was very beneficial in the end. I really enjoyed this semester in COMP II.
